[the view from sunday] a weekend trip to west virginia

This past weekend Aaron and I took a little overnight trip to Shepherdstown, WV. While its only an hour and a half outside of DC, we felt a million miles away. It's a quiet little town with the cutest shops and restaurants. We enjoyed a delicious dinner at Domestic Saturday night and picked up produce for the week (and some bread and cheese of course) at the Sunday Farmers Market. I fell in love and practically begged Aaron to move there. He was quick to remind we couldn't be on vacation forever..... so until next time, Shepherdstown!

[the view from the weekend] checking out The Heights

It was a perfect weather weekend here in DC this past weekend. Aaron and I decided it would we should take advantage and check out The Heights DC, a local EatWell (a DC restaurant group) spot in our neighborhood. We love the other EatWell restaurants so I'm surprised it took us so long to check out The Heights. And, MAN am I glad we did. It was delicious!

Aaron had a sriracha bloody mary and we are both blown away we haven't thought to add sriracha to our home made bm's because it was incredible! I stuck to a bellini (I wasn't feeling adventurous). We split deep fried french toast sticks to start, although we could have stopped there or saved that for dessert. Aaron had a breakfast burrito stuffed with eggs, bacon, cheddar, cilantro, roasted  red peppers, shallots and fresh salsa and I had the bbq pulled pork & corn cakes with jalapeño mango crème fraiche.

We can't wait to go back for happy hour and our dinner soon. If you're in DC, be sure to check it out or any of the other EatWell spots! Our fav's are The Pig and Commissary. EatWell restaurants use local and natural products grown on their own farm 40 miles outside of DC so the food is fresh, delicious, high quality and so reasonably priced. A must-try meal if you're ever in the area. Yum!

my favorite pink flats for spring were a welcomed break from my cold weather booties
It was absolutely beautiful in DC this weekend so I tried to spend as much time as I could outside soaking it all in with hopes that this is the end of this gray and wet winter. But of course it's supposed to rain this week (go home DC weather, you're drunk). *sigh* But at least spring is right around the corner.

the aftermath of soho brunch. no before picture..too delicious to wait

New hers and his mugs

I spent Sunday recovering from a night with friends at Meridian Pint by enjoying early morning Bethesda Bagels and Silk Chocolate soymilk, my go to Sunday breakfast as of late. I'm working with a a few friends from undergrad on an event for our alumni chapter and what was meant to be a planning meeting this morning turned into a trip down memory lane over more bagels, fruit salad and mimosas. Aaron and I had an early dinner at Open City and I insisted on stopping on the way home to pick up Ben and Jerrys. It was a busy weekend for both of us so a quiet evening with ice cream and Bravo is exactly what I need before another busy work week starts tomorrow. Oh and I guess I should do laundry....meep.
Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!
