home spa essentials from birchbox

I've mentioned here on the blog a few times there are a number of beauty products I find worth splurging on -mascara, mineral powder, nail polish - and a number worth saving a few dollars if possible -make up remover, lipstick. What I haven't shared is something I absolutely think is splurge worthy: home spa necessities. About once a month (often when Aaron is out doing something outdoorsy that I have elected not to participate in) I like to take a spa day. A phone off, bath drawn, all day Netflix on the iPad, day of pampering. And my spa day essentials are a splurge worthy indulgence. So when Birchbox asked me to try out their newest Caudalie product, I squealed. I've been using the Caudalie Divine Oil for awhile now in my spa kit so I was super excited to try the new Divine Scrub too.

I have a pretty hard time finding scrubs because I have pretty sensitive skin and most are too harsh. The Divine Scrub is an uber gentle exfoliant so it lightly scrubs and isn't too harsh. It contains a combination of oils (grape, sesame, hibiscus) with argan oils which I love since I've been looking for a argan oil product for quite some time now that doesn't leave my skin feeling oily. The Divine Scrub is like the best of both words for me-a gentle exfoliant AND a moisturizer. And as if I needed any more reason to fall in love, just like the entire Divine line, the scrub smells fanfreakingtastic and leaves you smelling amazing. If you can't actually make it to the spa, trust me when I say this is the next best thing. The Divine Scrub just hit the virtual shelves at Birchbox this month so be sure to check it out and use your points to snag one. You'll absolutely be hooked.

PS- Need a show to get into to watch on Netflix/Hulu all day during your spa day? One word for you: SCANDAL. You can thank me later.

*While I did receive the Divine Scrub as a gift from Birchbox, all opinions are absolutely my own. Just think of it as me doing the homework for you. :)

the latest and greatest from birchbox

I've been birchboxing for about a year now and I am such a huge fan. I sometimes read on their social media pages that people complain about the samples or don't think its worth the money. I wholeheartedly disagree. Of course some months are better than others and sometimes boxes can include a product you're not a fan of but more often than not, I find myself falling in love with a sample from the box. And if my box introduces me to a life changing product, the $10 is totally worth it. STILL not birchboxing yet? Whatcha waiting for??? Sign up here! :)

I wanted to share with you some of the products from recent boxes that I've been loving lately.

1-Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle
I'm a hot tools junkie. I love a good blow out and have a long term and monogamous relationship with my curling iron. I have to remind myself sometimes my fine hair needs a break from the heat. First step in my recovery from hot tools was air drying my hair and the second was at least twice a week, a no heat style. While its working, this Protect & Detangle is letting me skip some of my no heat hair days. I use this on towel dry combed hair. Give a few spritz and comb through. It is amaze.
2. Number 4 Support Solution
Back in April, I had a mild highlight disaster and it took two additional sessions to fix the color. Needless to say, my hair was incredibly damaged afterwards. (But a wonderful shade of blonde might I add.) It's as if Birchbox  knew I was going to need product for my uber dry and damaged tresses. I was skeptical of the price point thinking there's no way its worth $30 for a full size bottle. Y'all, it is. On blow dry or curl days, my hair holds so well and feels soft and conditioned. It is a dream for these damaged ends.
3. Oscar Blandi Pronto Texture & Volume Spray
My hair is pretty fine and has challenge holding a curl because of the texture. Enter: Oscar Blandi Texture and Volume Spray. It gives me hair just enough lift and the prefect texture for my curl to hold. I like to use this on days I have freshly cleaned hair to give it a little texture and stick. Normally on days 2 or 3 without wash, dry shampoo (oh and the dirty hair) gives me enough texture
4. Oscar Blandi Hair Lift Mousse
This is like a good hair day in a bottle. This mousee gives my fine and quick to fall flat hair the perfect amount of oomph. It's not too sticky and doesn't leave my hair crunchy and combs through a round brush for a blow out perfectly.

5.Soleil Organique Environmental Defense Sunscreen Sticks SPF 30
My mother is a sunblock fanatic and consequently has incredible skin. I haven't quite reached her level but it is certainly a goal in progress. This sunblock stick is perfect to throw in any purse or make up bag and is so easy to put on. I use it mainly for my face. I use a sunscreen spray for the rest.
6. Folle de Joie eau de parfum
This just smells fantastic. End of story.

february birchbox

HOORAY my February Birchbox arrived!
It was a little late because of snowstorm Nemo but still arrived and it was a great box!

1. TIGI Rockaholic fun times flexible hair spray.... It's a great fine mist that is light but has a great hold and is really is flexible which is perfect for loose curls. But the way it smells is too much. It smells like cherry cough syrup. Eek! If it weren't for the smell, I'd likely order a full bottle. I love this size can since it fits perfectly in my purse for quick touch ups during the day.
2. Secret Agent Beauty Secret Lip Affair..... this is one of those lip plumping lips glosses and boy does this stuff tingle! Its a really sheer color with a nice shimmer. Not sure how much it plumps but its a fun color lip gloss.
3. Juicy Couture Couture La La... I usually roll my eyes when I get a Juicy Couture perfume sample because I think they all smell the same and all smell like saucy sorority girl. BUT this one does not! Win! Some people complain about perfume samples in their Birchbox but I enjoy being able to switch up my scent every month. While I love my go-to Kate Spade Twirl, I've been using this one instead this week.
4. Twistband™ Headband Collection.... I always get so jealous when my short haired mama gets twistbands in her Birchbox. She's gotten 3 already! So when I got my FIRST twistband I was thrilled. AND it was a headband?! Double thrilled! This is an awesome headband -holds my hair back, doesn't slip and doesn't leave a indent! Highly highly recommended.
5. Ghirardelli Milk & Caramel Squares.... not pictured as it did not last more than 30 seconds. Duh. It was delicious. End of story.
